Obsidian, Gold, Copper, Bone

The campus reads as stone and metal. Obsidian black carries the field — dark masonry, blackened steel, deep-toned standing seam. Ceremonial gold appears as punctuation only: an emblem at an entry, a single inlaid line, a reveal at a threshold. Copper handles warmth and ages on purpose, so a façade installed in year one and a façade installed in year six are related rather than identical. Bone is the reading surface — signage, wayfinding, interior planes where text has to be legible at speed. Deep mineral tones sit underneath as the connective range.

Pattern is structural. Where geometry appears — screen walls, perforated panels, paving fields, gate infill — it behaves like part of the building's order: a module that repeats, aligns to a structural grid, and does work such as shading a west elevation or breaking a wind path. It is not applied as ornament over a finished surface, and it is not used as a costume. There are no feather motifs, no headdress iconography, no desert-sunset gradients, and none of the visual grammar of a casino floor. Those references are not shorthand for Indigenous identity; they are shorthand for someone else's idea of it, and the campus does not build in them.

Any motif, name, or mark that carries cultural meaning goes through authorized review before it enters a construction document or a public visual. Where a motif has not been cleared, the system falls back to its own geometry rather than approximating something it has no standing to use. The result is a site that reads as composed and permanent from the road, and as carefully detailed at arm's length.
